Samsung works with Intel, HP, and SK Telecom

Earlier this day, news broke that SK Telecom had teamed up with Intel, HP, and Samsung to commercialize 5G virtual networks. The companies have cooperated to design and establish standards for virtualization processes. Samsung has already begun offering 5G vRAN (Virtualized Radio Access Network) solutions to network operators to reduce costs and optimize networks.

According to their agreement, Intel will share its Xeon processors, ethernet network adapters, and SSDs. HP will provide its virtual server ProLiant to Samsung. As for SK Telecom, it will assist in testing Samsung Electronics' 5G virtualization software and verifying its compatibility with the 5G core network.

With 5G virtual networks, it will be much easier for mobile network operators to instantly launch different 5G services, as there will be no need to install new hardware or upgrade them.

It is clear that Samsung has been working to expand its network business after many countries began to keep themselves at a distance from Huawei because of data security issues. While Huawei remains the world's number one network infrastructure provider, Samsung has made a huge step forward. Samsung Networks recently managed to conclude a major $ 6.6 billion 5G infrastructure contract with Verizon.
