The reputation of Samsung's Exynos processors is not very good among smartphone users. But the company does not stand still, and there is every chance that in the near future Exynos processors will be able to prove themselves. Samsung has already released the Exynos 980 processor with performance almost equal to the Snapdragon 765G.
Samsung is now looking for customers for its Exynos chipsets. Samsung's semiconductor design division (System LSI) is going to supply Exynos processors to OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Most likely, Exynos SoCs will be used in budget smartphones of these brands. Samsung could also receive orders for chipsets for mid-range and high-end smartphones in case the processors demonstrate high performance. The company has already shipped the Exynos 880 and the Exynos 980 chipsets to Vivo. System LSI has also cut the supply of Exynos processors to Samsung's smartphone division due to a lower profit margin.
The new Exynos 1080 chipset will be introduced on November 12 in China. The chipset is expected to come with the Vivo X60, as well as the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72. The Exynos 1080 is manufactured using Samsung's 5nm EUV process and has four Cortex-A78 CPU cores, four Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and Mali G78 GPU. According to rumors, the upcoming Exynos processor will be a bit faster than the Snapdragon 865 in terms of performance due to new ARM's CPU cores and a more advanced manufacturing process.
