Samsung starts rolling out the January 2021 security patch to the Galaxy S9 series

It's only been a few days since the new year, and Samsung is already rolling out a new update to the Galaxy S9 series. Both the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ users have started receiving the January 2021 security patch. Germany was the first country where the update became available, but as always, it will soon reach other countries as well.

The update is based on Android 10 and includes stability improvements and bug fixes. It is 113.48 MB in size and has firmware versions G960FXXSDFTL1 and G965FXXSDFTL1 for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, respectively. No details were given as to what security bugs it fixes, but Samsung should share this information soon.

If you have not received the new update notification yet, you can check for the update in the Settings menu. Just go to the "Software Update" section and select "Download and Install".
