Samsung surpasses Xiaomi and becomes India's leading smartphone brand in Q3 2020

Samsung recently announced its final Q3 2020 financial results. This quarter's revenue was the highest quarterly revenue ever. Samsung reportedly managed to regain its number one position in the Indian smartphone market for the first time in two years. According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung achieved an incredible 32% year-on-year growth in Q3 2020 and gained a 24% market share. Xiaomi gained a 23% market share, thus losing its position as the leading smartphone brand in India to Samsung.

Samsung was the fastest to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Various successful strategies, such as efficient supply chain management, the launch of good mid-range models, active promotion in the online market, and touching of different price points, have contributed to such high performance results of the company.

Vivo ranked third in the smartphone market in India with a market share of 16%. Realme and OPPO ranked fourth and fifth with market shares of 15% and 10% respectively. OnePlus remained the leader in the segment of flagship smartphones from $400 to $600. And of course, Apple showed good results in the premium segment due to high sales of the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE 2020.
