Samsung One UI 3.1 gets Android 11's smart home controls

We found out that Samsung had expanded its cooperation with Google during Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked 2021. As a result of this cooperation, some Google services have become an integral part of One UI. For example, you can now easily replace Samsung Free with Google Discover Feed on devices working on One UI 3.1, as well as installing Google Messages instead of Samsung Messages. Samsung One UI now also has Google's Android 11 smart home controls.

One UI 3.0 has brought Samsung's own smart home menu based on SmartThings to Samsung devices. And One UI 3.1 has added smart home controls for devices compatible with Google Assistant. To open smart home controls, swipe the notification panel down and go to the "Devices" section in Quick Settings. Then simply select Google Home. You can also easily change back to the SmartThings menu and vice versa in Quick Settings. In addition, Samsung has removed the one-touch control feature for turning smart home devices on and off. Now, to view the options for a device, you need to click on its name again.

The smart home controls are currently only available for devices working on One UI 3.1. Obviously, these are the Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21+, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Galaxy Tab S7, and the Galaxy Tab S7+. Along with One UI 3.1, the new feature should reach other devices within several weeks.
