While we are all waiting for the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update to become available, Samsung has released an update for the Samsung Music app. The updated app has a version number 16.2.23.14. and carries some new features, bug fixes, and compatibility with Android 11.
The official changelog lists support for Android 11 (One UI 3.0), the option to set images for albums and playlists, the option to choose the starting point of the ringtone, the option to decide if external devices can start playback, and bug fixes. When setting an image for an album or a playlist, you can select it from the gallery or camera, and also crop it to a square format.
The app already has a number of useful features. In addition to the user-friendly interface, it supports many music formats such as MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC. The app helps to manage music by track, album, artist, folder, genre, and composer. It also shows music recommendations from Spotify. Previously, Samsung Music was installed on Samsung smartphones and tablets by default, but now to use the app, you first have to install it from the Galaxy Store or Play Store.
